Concrete setting vs. cure time and cracking - Eng-Tips 10 Mar 2018 · While BASF 1060, according to the SDS, has a good deal of Portland Cement, Master Builders does not use the term "Portland Cement" to describe the product. The very short working time of the mix, 15 minutes, would not allow for the use of hot water.
Which dry density to use?Density of cement or MDD of subbase … 7 Jul 2006 · I have got some arguments between my colleques. We are dealing with stabilization works for C1-stabilised subbase. After analyzing the laboratory trial tests revealed that 3%of cement is adequate. Now on my case I want to make field trial test of 100m length and my road is 9.8m wide and the thickness of the stabilized subbase is to be 200mm.
Cement bulk density - Concrete Engineering general discussion 16 Mar 2004 · (Cement, clinker) Density - 88#/ft^3 Internal Friction phi - 33 degrees Effective Internal Friction delta - 42-52 degrees Friction against wall mu prime - .6 concrete, .3 steel (Cement, portland) Density - 84 - 100 #/ft^3 Internal Friction phi - 24 -30 degrees Effective Internal Friction delta - 40-50 degrees
Bulk density of cement stabilised sand - Eng-Tips 14 Aug 2018 · Cement stabilized sand with 5% cement is soil-cement. It achieves strengths in the 100-300 psi range and is mostly impervious. The density will vary, but will likely be in the 110 to 115 pcf range when compacted.
exterior masonry wall - Structural engineering general discussion 17 Aug 2009 · CMU - 125 pcf density Portland cement Lime Type S mortar Coarse grout f'm = 1500 psi no other loads entered. NCMA Program version 3.1.1.2 When I switch to 2000 IBC Allow Stress method it requires #6 @ 16" o.c. - quite a difference.

Unit Weight / Density of Fresh Concrete 1 - Eng-Tips 1 Jul 2012 · Actual concrete density is a function of numerous variables. When a mix design is done, it is a "theoretical recipe" that should yield what is designed. Unfortunately there are variables in the batching process that can throw this off slightly, usually be about 1% or less, which is actually fairly good!
Differences between and advantages to using Type IL vs Type I/II … 14 Jul 2022 · JLNJ, it's coming. Our company has been developing an approach to IL. The institutionalists (like me), say "...that we've been using the same kind of cement for 50(?) years and know its quirks." But we're tilting at windmills. There's a push to lower emissions and IL has an advantage there. So some batch plants are stocking only that. They tell me:
Crushed vs Round aggregate in concrete - Eng-Tips 3 Feb 2012 · Background: ACI 318-05 and -08 does not appear to reward the designer for specifying crushed aggregate over rounded (usually "river rock") in structural concrete. Chapter 4 refers to ASTM C33, and leaves it at that. Certainly crushed rock has better interlock, and must have better shear friction...
Density of Portland Cement? - Concrete Engineering general 5 Oct 2005 · It is rated at 94#/cf because that is the "bulk" density due to the fineness. The actual particles have a specific gravity of 3.15. When you are doing a concrete mix design everything is based on the actual weight of the material to maintain a measureable standard.
