Average Bond Enthalpy - The Student Room Always remember, you have one less C-C bond than you have C atoms..... too many times seen people think Butane has 4 C-C bonds! Also, using C-O rather than C=O or not having 2 bonds for each CO2 molecule or H2O molecule are common errors.
Enthalpy Change of Combustion Help - The Student Room 4 Jan 2016 · Bond Average bond enthalpy /kJ mol^-1 C-H +410 O-H +465 O=O +500 C=O +805 C-O +336 The equation below shows the combustion of methanol, CH3OH, in the gaseous state. CH3OH(g) + 1(and a half)O2(g) > CO2(g) + 2H2O(g) Using the average bond enthalpies in the table above, calculate the enthalpy change of combustion of gaseous methanol.
bond enthalpy help needed. - The Student Room You have C-H bonds in two different molecules, which are effectively two unknowns as they differ slightly (you should have learnt that the mean bond energy is the energy taken to break a bond averaged over many different molecules), thus the value you calculate will actually be the average of the C-H bond enthalpy for ethane and ethene, it's a stupid question.
AS Bond Enthalpy Question - The Student Room Q: The Enthalpy of formation of ammonia is-46 Kjmol and bond disassociation enthalpies of nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas are 945 and 436 Kjmol respectively. Calculate the average bond Enthalpy of an N-H bond. I got 383KJmol as answer. However, apparently the answer is meant to be 390.8. What do you guys get? Am I wrong or is it the apparent ...
A level chemistry HELP! - The Student Room Calculate the average C-C bond enthalpy in benzene (C6H6) given the following data. enthalpy of formation ...
Difference between mean bond enthalpy and bond enthalpy. Mean bond enthalpy is the average for a particular type of bond measured over many different types of molecule. The bond dissociation enthalpy refers to a specific bond within a specific molecule. The example 1 above specifies which bond is being broken in a determined molecule. It is the bond dissociation enthalpy. Example 2 shows the total ...
A Level Chemistry - Average bond Enthalpies - The Student Room 28 Aug 2020 · A good example of this is the average bond enthalpy of the C-H bond. This is usually quoted at about 414 kJ mol-1 However, the bond dissociation enthalpies of methane vary from between 460 kJ mol-1 for CH 3 ==> CH 2 + H to 339 kJ mol-1 for CH ==> C + H The values for the four dissociations are: 439 kJ, 460 kJ, 423 kJ and 339 kJ, which for ...
bond enthalpy question - The Student Room 11 May 2023 · the question is: this question is about hydrazine, N2H4, and ammonia, NH3. These are both compounds of nitrogen and hydrogen. the equation is: N2H4 + O2----> N triple bond N + 2H2O some average bond enthalpies are given below: N-N = +163 N triple bond N = +945 N-H = +390 O=O = +497 O-H = +463 Use the data to calculate the enthalpy change for the reaction …
Bond enthalpy questions? - The Student Room If you want a bit of advice, I would always draw out the molecules, showing all the bonds in them. I would then make a list of which bonds and how many of each were broken and made, then calculate the energy to break all the bonds and the energy to make all the bonds and then calculate the total enthalpy change.
Chemistry Help: Bond Enthalpies - The Student Room Question from OCR A Student Book: 9.3 Summary Questions Use Table 1 and the following data: 2SO2(g) + O2(g) → 2SO3(g) ΔH=-192kJmol-1 Assume that SO2 and SO3 contain only S=O bonds a) Calculate the average bond enthalpy for the S=O bond. b) The actual bond enthalpy for the S=O bond in SO2 is 531kJmol-1. Calculate the actual bond enthalpy for ...
