AS Biology - Line of best fit (Drawing graphs) - The Student Room 10 Jun 2024 · Nope, there's a difference between connecting all of the points by joining them up and drawing a line of best fit. A line of best fit is where you try and connect the points as much as possible with 1 straight line. Here's a quick example I've drawn on paint. I've also attached a quick line of best fit which is curved. As you can see, the lines ...
Soft question - determining how the line of best fit is drawn 19 May 2025 · In contrast, when Edexcel's first AS paper for the same year also asked for a line of best fit to be drawn in question 8(b)(i), the mark scheme stated that the line of best fit should be straight (even having a picture showing a straight line of best fit as additional guidance).
Line of best fit, Biology... - The Student Room 9 May 2025 · Yes, it's supposed to be a straight line. Dot to dot wouldn't be a line of "best fit", that'd be multiple lines just connecting each of the results. Plotting the 'best fit' on a graph will always be a curve of best fit/line of best fit. (More regularly line of best fit in GCSE).

Extreme Fit Line - The Student Room Are they already close to a straight line or is there a lot of deviation. The best line will go through most of the points. You have to judge it. It comes with practice. The worst line will be the one you could reasonably imagine going through most of the points. It's impossible to say any more than it's one of those things you need to practise.
Line of best fit in chemistry - The Student Room 19 May 2025 · If a point just isn't as good a fit as others, adjust your line to include it. Lines of best fit shouldn't go through all the points but get as close to them as possible while remaining straight. Playing around with a ruler and seeing which looks best is the best way. As for the origin-depends what you're plotting.
How to draw a line of worst fit? - The Student Room 22 May 2025 · As for (b)(ii), you need to extend both the best fit line and extreme fit line to cut the y-axis to read the y-intercepts for the best fit line and extreme fit line respectively. Say the y-intercepts for the best fit line and extreme fit line are y b and y e respectively. The uncertainty in the original length = ∣ y b – y e ∣ |y_b – y_e ...
When to draw a line of best fit graph? - The Student Room 19 Apr 2016 · A line of best fit is when you are expecting a linear relationship and you roughly go through the points taking the best route so that your points are either slightly above or below the line. Your data does not appear to show a nice linear relationship.
Physics IA, Error Bars, Line of Best Fit - The Student Room 17 Jun 2023 · Generally, if one point seems to be away from the best fit line you check it by repeating that measurement. The experiment is to do with oscillations, we used a hacksaw blade clamped to a table with two magnets at a controlled variable distance (x), the raw data includes the width of the blade (b), the thickness (d), the mass of the magnets together (M) and the period of 10 oscillations.
