And it is used as an example in the section "Words Without Corresponding Equivalence". The author says this word has the meaning in English as the translated sentence shows while not in Chinese. I thought it so weird.

"Cold" is the key word. "Some" and "shit" and "ass" are sort of fillers. They don't carry the meaning of the sentence. The entire meaning is contained in the complete sentence "That [action] was cold."
